Capacity is limited and advanced registration is required. Depending on the location, classes will be held either indoors or outdoors following strict safety guidelines to ensure the safety of everyone. All YMCA of Greater Boston "Safe for You, Safe for Us" protocols apply. Before visiting our facilities, please review our new member safety agreement, as well as our policies and procedures. PODS ARE ALWAYS ENROLLING!
Any Pod that would like to book a program are welcome to call their local YMCA of Greater Boston branch to arrange. Pods are groups of children who have been quarantining or schooling together through COVID-19.

Jr. Celtics Youth Development League

The YMCA of Greater Boston has partnered with the Boston Celtics and their Jr. Celtics Youth Development Leagues! This special basketball program teaches the value of Celtics basketball and healthy player development along with skills and drills. Kids can become a Jr. Celtic "Player of the Week," participate in our pre-season Draft, and sign their contract as a "Jr. Celtic." The whole season ends with a group chat/webinar with a Celtics VIP!

In Stage 2, the child work to develop the following swim skills: body position and control, directional change, and forward movement in the water.

Youth Stage 3: Water Stamina
5-10 weeks

In Stage 3, the child will work to develop the stamina needed to swim 25 yards unassisted, and introduces the following new skills: rhythmic breathing, and integrated arm and leg actions.

Youth Stage 4: Stroke Introduction
5-10 weeks

In Stage 4, students work on developing swim stroke techniques for the front and back crawl and introduced to the breaststroke and butterfly kick.

Youth Stage 5: Stroke Development
5-10 weeks

In Stage 5, students work on integrating arm and leg actions for the breaststroke and butterfly strokes, and refine swim stroke skills and techniques for all other swim strokes.

Youth Stage 6: Stroke Mechanics
5-10 weeks

In Stage 6, students work on refining swim stroke technique for all major competitive strokes and building stamina to perform each stroke for greater distances. Students are introduced to the concept of, competitive swimming, and discover how to incorporate swimming into a healthy lifestyle.
